Just for a few minutes try to think what life is like for the child who lives with fear each and every day of their young life. They are lonely and frightened and desperately want to do everything to please. They know that it is very likely that before the day ends they will in all probability once again be punished even though they have tried so very hard not to do a single solitary thing which will anger Mommy or Daddy. To this wee angel it must seem as if just breathing is almost a guarantee that they will be hurt.

My heart has always broken upon hearing of a child or children who have suffered, or are suffering, abuse at the hands of those from whom they have the God given right to expect protection and love. My feelings of overwhelming revulsion for the perpetrator of that abuse is, and always has been, indescribable but the pedophile takes that revulsion and yes, hatred beyond any boundaries imaginable. 

Children are our most precious gift and not one single child deserves to be mistreated whether it be by a stranger or by those they love and trust above all others. Perhaps that crime does not make headlines or make the evening newscasts but to the child forced to live with the fear of abuse from those charged with the responsibility of caring for them and loving them the horror and  devastation to that child's very soul  defies description.

Once upon a time kindness and decency were qualities that we all took for granted and that everyone expected from others.  I know it sounds strange in light of the frightening changes in this world of ours  but there was a time a little girl could believe in fairy tales, could play outdoors with no worries about being safe, could safely go to school with her friends and not require parental protection getting there, and there was no necessity to  be programmed to expect the worst from any stranger who showed interest in you. 

Sadly, today the reality is horribly different. Is there a day goes by when our hearts don't break as we hear of yet another child who has fallen prey to the aberrations of one of the perverse sick creatures in our society ? Is there nothing we can do to protect these sweet innocent wee ones from the dangers with which our world now seems to be infested? 

The prevalence of such perversions would appear to be  increasing at a rate which is unexplainable. What is it about our society which is causing these freaks of nature to multiply? I know there have always been pedophiles  and I also know that our laws being as they are  they are not properly monitored once identified. We must change the system to assure that once their predilection has been recognized they are no longer afforded the civil rights which we all take as our  right in a free society. Those rights under the law are there to protect but these monsters do not deserve protection ! 

We destroy mad dogs. The child predator deserves nothing better. 

The pundits lay blame on television, the internet, and other media for the increase in child pornography and the many abductions and murders each time one of these events occurs. But what is done to change the availability of this filth ? 'Political correctness' dictates the rights of those publishing and distributing this garbage are protected. This is WRONG! They forfeit those rights when they choose to feed the perversions of those who see children as nothing more than fodder for their sick deviant fantasies. The penalties for publishing and /or distributing child pornography absolutely must be made so stringent that they discourage anyone from engaging in this business. This would be a positive first step at least in preventative measures. 

Perhaps the pedophile has always existed but  just possibly our willingness to allow and accept the publication of such offal has assisted in its proliferation. Our culpability bears closer scrutiny by  each and every one of us. It's too easy to just turn away or ignore it. We must take decisive action to make our voices heard every single time we encounter 
evidence that aids in feeding the depravity of these creatures. And we simply have to find a better way to handle such individuals once their predilection is known. Locking them up for a period of time and then releasing them back into society to prey on another child or children is reprehensible ! We have a responsibility to each and every child on this planet to protect them from such danger. We are culpable so long as we allow laws to exist which harbour the pedophile and protect their civil rights at the expense of our precious babies. 

Any kind of child abuse, whether it be at the hands of a stranger or inflicted upon them by those they love and trust in their own home is, and should be to all of us, intolerable. To ignore or plead ignorance out of a misguided wish to stay uninvolved is inexcusable. Children deserve our protection no matter what the cost may be to assure that not one
single child lives in fear and  to ensure that every child is safe. 

 Children have every right to expect protection from us and we are not living up to those expectations until we make changes to our laws which provide assurances that once identified as such  the pedophile is incarcerated or institutionalized until science discovers some permanent means to control their aberrations. 

No child should EVER feel so alone and completely at the mercy of those from whom they are unable to defend themselves. The excuse for the pedophile is that 'they are ill' ... what is the excuse for the parent who breaks a child's spirit and inflicts scars not only of a physical nature but ones which, if the child survives, are invisible and which they will carry with them always ? 

 Which is the greater crime ? 

 Perhaps the greatest crime of all is  to be aware and do nothing
