I have had it tucked away in the back of
my mind for ages now that one day I would do a page featuring all of my
husband's music rather than just those midis which fit whatever page I
happened to be composing from time to time. Like so many things we mean
to do, it has always seemed to remain in the pending file until now. Because
Les is somewhat shy and quite private he was quite satisfied to see the
project remain there. He knows how stubborn I am however so I'm sure
seeing the page become a reality will not be a major surprise to him.
He spends so many hours composing and/or
sequencing each MIDI or MP3, until it reaches a point and a standard
where he feels it is of a quality which he will share with others, that
to not have his music heard and appreciated by as many as possible
is really something which bothers me more than just a little. Particularly
given that I know what tremendous effort and pain is involved with
each new selection. Les uses no tricks with his midis. What you hear is
actually Les playing each and
every note. No 'Band in a Box' or other mechanical device creates his music
... he does. What makes this even more significant is that he does this
although he suffers terribly with severe Rheumatoid Arthritis and even
playing for short periods these days is very difficult and painful for
him.
For anyone to fall prey to this disease
is terrible but for a musician it can be devastating. Les plays so magnificently,
in fact has played professionally in years past, and when he is able the
sound of his playing fills our home even now.
I know he would say his favourite
instrument is his Hammond Organ which has a favoured spot in our living
room but for his midi compositions he uses his keyboards. On those rare
occasions when his hands allow he does still play the organ but only for
brief periods.
Because Les chooses to feature other
MIDI artists on his very comprehensive web site MIDI
Studio Consortium and to showcase them much more so than
his own work, many of those who do frequent MIDI Studio may not even
know Les Gorven exists other than as the owner and web master of MIDI Studio.
This has always been something which I have nattered at him about.
Of course those other artists offer quality and are well known as being
among the premier providers of MIDI and MP3 for the web but Les belongs
in that company as well ... and that is not just a proud wife talking !
Anyone listening to Les' music will agree I am quite certain.
OK .. he won't promote himself ? .. Then
I'll do it for him ! <g>
Below you will find links to all
of Les' MIDIs. Feel free to download and save them to your computer either
for your personal listening pleasure, or for use on your web sites if the
music is suitable for your format ( with the appropriate credit and
link to Les at http://www.midistudio.com
of course).
I have provided a zip file which you may
download here which contains
PSP tube files with MIDI Studio graphics which you may use to link
back to Les' site. There are tubes for lighter and for darker backgrounds.
You will need winzip to unzip the files and then install into your
PSP tubes folder to use the files.
Please do not link directly to the midi
files here but download them to your own computer. Bandwidth adds
up when it comes to midis or MP3s and I do hope you will honour my request.
Most of all I sincerely hope you
enjoy listening to my husband's artistry. He is too modest to say so but
it does please him immensely when he knows someone is deriving pleasure
from his music.

* The
titles followed by an asterisk are original Les Gorven compositions

Les has recently also created CD's of his
midis which are available here.
Three are now completed and a fourth is in progress.
If you
visit Les' site you will find in excess of three thousand midi files covering
a wide range of musical variety in addition to multiple pages of comprehensive
technical help which will assist you in solving problems regarding using
music on your sites. You will be joining over eight million other visitors
to date who have done so. Just click on the link below.
